The purpose behind creating this doodle, was to venti out my thoughts on on women and the oppression they face. In-spite the heat that the work can generate just by using terms like "Feminism", my motive here was to not cause any intended turbulence. It is a mere outburst of my thoughts about how women are still victims of one hell or the other, and herein emerged the concept of "Living Hell on Earth", the larger context in which my doodle resonates.
The nine circular rings are analogous to the nine rings of hell as described in Dante Alighieri's "Inferno". This illustration seeks to portrays these certain set of creatures, their gender inconspicuous and their intentions of pulling pull her, the protagonist, the women, into damnation, by ripping off her wings of freedom, draining her, exploiting her.
The octopus shows mind control with its two arms on both sides lending an aura of helplessness, the head shrouded with a veil depicts the blindness one subscribes too, often in the name of religion, present on the top of the nine circles.
A "Satan"- the ultimate maestro or the bad man is seen orchestrating the creatures, who like puppeteers are enslaving the women, a consequence of how matriarchy prevails even now, a rule established centuries ago, a rule of domination.
I am not referring to particular religion here and the elements used are what I found the most effective to portray my thoughts visually.
The newborn emerging out from her womb is her only hope towards attainment of salvation, which again is chained and being dragged towards damnation but the newborn's wings are in perfect shape indicating the probable chance of escaping this vicious circle, this Living Hell on Earth.
